OJ Simpson to be cremated, possible murder lawyer issues new statement

As you’ve probably already heard, and as you may still be celebrating, OJ Simpson died last week At the age of 76.

The former football player, who almost certainly murdered his wife and a man named Ron Goldman in 1994, was diagnosed with prostate cancer earlier this year.

According to various sources, Simpson’s condition deteriorated rapidly after this and he became surrounded by all five of his children When he passed away.

Now, meanwhile, attorney Malcolm LaVergne has provided PEOPLE with an update on how the situation stands with Simpson’s body and its fate.

First, Lavergne says Simpson will be cremated,

There are no plans to donate his brain to science, despite a push in some circles to determine whether the retired running back suffered from chronic traumatic encephalopathy… a degenerative brain disease that has been studied since the ex-football It has been reported in athletes and has been associated with behavioral and cognitive issues related to repeated head injuries.

Elsewhere, Lavergne walked back his previous comments.

Last week, LaVergne told The Las Vegas Review-Journal that he would fight to stop payment of a $33.5 million judgment awarded to the families of Simpson’s ex-wife, Nicole Brown Simpson, and her friend Goldman.

He even said he wanted Ron’s father Fred Goldman to get “zero, nothing” of Simpson’s estate…despite Simpson being found guilty of Ron’s death in a civil trial.

“I can tell you in advance, Fred Goldman’s claim will be accepted. And his claim will be handled in accordance with Nevada law,” LaVergne now tells The Hollywood Reporter, alleging that his previous comments were No In response to Fred Goldman, but toward his lawyers.

Simpson’s attorney from 2009 added:

“Within an hour of learning that OJ died, he started blabbering. My supporting instinct is, ‘Oh, you’re going to keep shitting on him after he’s dead?’

“Okay, you know? You get nothing.’ And so, these were my comments. But I digress and those were pretty harsh comments. And now I’m going in the other direction.”

Lavergne now claims he plans to invite Goldman’s mother and the person with control of Brown’s estate to a meeting in his office to be transparent about the process.

“We can resolve this thing peacefully and fairly,” Lavergne says.

We will definitely see about it.

Now serving as executor of Simpson’s estate, Lavergne also says there are tentative plans to hold a “celebration of life” for OJ, limited to close friends and family.

We’re not exactly sure who else would attend such an event, considering we all had the same reaction upon learning of Simpson’s death, right?
