On Saturday, ATK Mohun Bagan defeated East Bengal 2-0 in the Indian Super League (ISL). Dimitri Petratos and Slavko Damjanovic scored to help ATKMB finish third in the Indian Super League points table, their eighth straight Kolkata derby win in all competitions.

ATKMB were on the attack from the word go as EBFC reeled under the prospect of immediate bombardment. In the fifth minute, Pritam Kotal struck the far post with a free kick from Dimitri Petratos.

During the 12th minute, the Mariners began putting pressure on Federico Gallego, but the referee waved play on because Jerry Lalrinzuala had brought him down. Lalchungnunga then illegally tackled Ashique Kuruniyan. The referee could no longer look away and blew his whistle. Petratos’ attempt, however, whizzed over the bar.

In the 17th minute, East Bengal had a golden opportunity to score when Mobashir Rahman sent VP Suhair a piercing through ball. However, he slipped at the crucial moment of taking a shot.

As the game progressed, challenges became more and more desperate.

Barely five minutes later, Suhair’s fizzed cross was inches over Cleiton Silva’s head as he slipped Naorem Singh in.

Asish Rai replied by practising from the right into the middle of the field and unleashing a ferocious shot that would have been easy for Kamaljit Singh to save on. In the 34th minute, the East Bengal keeper got behind the shot quite easily after a deflection off Sarthak Golui.

A phobia of hospitals and the pain associated with doctors usually prevents children from visiting doctors on their own accord. This pain could be due to a needle, stitch, or wound dressing. Children resist checkups because they fear they will have to undergo something painful if they go to the doctor because of this fear.

It is necessary for children to undergo several processes from time to time to ensure that all their internal organs are functioning properly, including blood tests, scans and more. You can get through routine checkups with your child without any inconvenience by following these tips rather than encouraging their fear and avoiding hospitals:

Engage them

When children are scared, they tend to overthink the situation and focus on what is happening to them. When they are scared, you can keep them entertained and busy instead of letting them be. It is possible to entertain them by holding a discussion, showing a video or playing a song and telling jokes.

Make sure that you do not add to a child’s fear when the health checkup is going on. Even if you make a serious face unconsciously, they may get scared and think that something is wrong. For children to stay fear-free in hospitals, constant reassurance that everything is fine is essential.

Children should be taken care of well

It is possible to reduce the number of hospital visits by giving your child a healthy diet and lifestyle. Make sure your children are physically active and have a routine.

In a scathing attack on Nitish Kumar on Saturday, Union Home Minister Amit Shah said all doors to his joining the BJP-led NDA have been shut.

After a rally in West Champaran district, Shah addressed a conclave of farmers and labourers in Patna, saying the JD(U) leader had joined forces with former adversaries Congress and RJD and “betrayed” the BJP on account of his “Prime Ministerial ambitions”.

In 2013, Nitish Babu abandoned us, Shah said, but in 2017, he reconnected with us. Even though we won more seats than his JD(U) in the Lok Sabha elections of 2019 and the assembly elections a year later, Prime Minister Narendra Modi pitched for his return as chief minister.

At present, Nitish babu is at the doorsteps (dagar par) of (RJD supremo) Lalu Prasad.

In his turn, he will suffer vishwasghaat (betrayal). Nitish babu, you will never be admitted into the NDA,” a senior BJP leader said. “I have never seen a man spew lies so blatantly (itna jhooth bolne wala) and so treacherous (itna vishwasghat karne wala),” said Shah.

After leaving the NDA in 2013, Nitish Kumar joined the Mahagathbandhan allies Congress and Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) in 2015, and the alliance won the Bihar Assembly elections. Two years later, Kumar joined the BJP after breaking up with Mahagathbandhan in 2017. The JD(U) coalition fought the 2019 Lok Sabha and 2020 Bihar Assembly elections together. Kumar left the BJP in 2022 to join Lalu Prasad’s RJD and Congress.

At the Sree Kanteerava Stadium on Thursday, Bengaluru FC secured a top-four finish in the Indian Super League (ISL) with an eight-consecutive win over FC Goa. As the Blues topped Sivasakthi Narayanan’s season tally with two goals and Pablo Perez scored the third, Odisha FC confirmed their place as the sixth and final team in the playoffs as they ended the Gaurs’ playoff race.

The hosts won three consecutive corners in the first five minutes and broke the deadlock with the third. The ball was curled into the box for the third time by Roshan Naorem and an unmarked Narayanan headed it in from close range to give the hosts an early lead.

FC Goa searched for a win to stay alive in the competition and, with five minutes gone, Noah Sadaoui put in a cross from the left which was deflected twice before falling to Redeem Tlang. From a tight angle he managed to get his shot away but Gurpreet Singh Sandhu had it covered. Soon after Tlang tried his luck from 25 yards out only to be thwarted again by Gurpreet. Naorem’s free kick at the other end of the pitch found Sunil Chhetri but Dheeraj Moirangthem was equal to it.

A Congress Working Committee member is powerful, so it is not an easy decision for the Congress to vote for it. The Congress Working Committee is the top decision-making body of the Congress. For many years, the CWC has been a yes-man body, usually following the Congress president’s line – which meant following the Gandhis.

President Gandhi, who has been a Gandhi for the last 20 years, has gained more clout with the appointment of CWC members. However, since the grand old party decided to hold presidential elections – also to placate the G23 – the next step has been to demand that the CWC be surveyed to ensure that the democratic process is complete.

Even though Rahul Gandhi is not the president of the party, he still holds a sway over party affairs, especially after the Bharat Jodo Yatra. It is easy to see why perhaps the current steering committee members, who will be examining the CWC, may not be too enthusiastic about holding elections.

Netherlands chief coach Jeroen Delmee believes his team will need to overcome inexperience as it aims to win its fourth trophy at the Men’s hockey World Cup, beginning here on January 13.

Three-time world champions Netherlands arrived in Bhubaneswar on Wednesday.

The silver medallists of the previous edition, who are being led by Thierry Brinkman, will complete their final preparations here before travelling to Rourkela where they will face Malaysia in their first match on January 14.

It will be interesting to see how we will overcome the challenges in the World Cup. I have full confidence in my team,” Delmee said.

After their match against Malaysia, they will face New Zealand in Rourkela on January 16, and will conclude their group stage campaign against Chile in Bhubaneswar on January 19.

“We will have to fight from game to game, and we will see where we end up in the tournament. Our first goal is to reach the quarterfinals, then the semifinals.

In the final, we will see how things go. Of course, if we get to the final, we hope we can turn things around and win the tournament. However, this time we have a completely different team and you cannot compare the current players with last time’s team,” Delmee said.

Among the 16 teams competing in the tournament are Australia, Belgium, the Netherlands, India, Argentina, Germany, New Zealand, England, France, Korea, Malaysia, Spain, South Africa, Japan, Chile, and Wales.
