Trisha Yearwood Reacts to Humanitarian Award Honor and CMT Music Awards Performance (Exclusive)

Trisha Yearwood Says she feels positively blessed after receiving it Inaugural June Carter Cash Award But 2024 cmt music awards And performed on stage during the show.

Speaking with ET’s Cassie DeLaura backstage at the Moody Center in Austin, Texas, the 59-year-old singer expressed her gratitude for the warm reception from the crowd watching the world premiere of “Put It in a Song,” which was He described it as: “Surreal.”

Just then, a man in the audience yelled at the country singer, “You deserve it,” to which she immediately responded, “Well, you’re so sweet.”

Yearwood and her husband, garth brooks, both of whom have been notable individuals working with Habitat for Humanity to rebuild homes in areas devastated by natural disasters, including Haiti and New Orleans. Both singers have been named Habitat Humanitarians by the organization for their work with this cause.

He said, “There is something that inspires you in every creation you make. One of the most inspiring experiences is our trip to Haiti. We went for the first time a year after the earthquake.” I have never in my life seen the kind of conditions people were living in. Because Haiti had such a need, we went back the next year and visited the houses we had built the previous year.”

He added, “The homeowners were doing very well. They had gardens. You could just see the difference, especially in their eyes. You could see the joy of being a homeowner on their faces.”

When she is not setting up home with her rockstar husband, she is creating a new record for the enjoyment of her fans. The stepmom of three tells ET that she’s been hard at work crafting her album and it’s almost here for everyone to enjoy.

“I’ve been writing a lot and so I’m just going to put it out there,” she said. “And whenever I write another song I’m like maybe it’ll be on the record, so we’ll see.”

One track that’s definitely hitting the spot is “Put It in a Song,” which debuted to rave reviews and audience applause Sunday at the Texas venue where the CMT Music Awards were held. Immediately after their live performance, Rolling stone The single was called “an instant classic”.

Brooks, 62, couldn’t attend the awards ceremony on Sunday evening, but Yearwood told ET that he was definitely at home and was still watching and cheering her on. “He’ll send me a lot of hearts,” she said. “And he told me before I even walked out. ‘I’m really proud of you,’” she said.

Yearwood also shared that while it’s definitely fun to celebrate in a room with her teammates, she was more excited to hit the road and go home with her husband of nearly 20 years.

“I’m going home to meet my husband, that’s how I’m celebrating,” she said. She also said that she couldn’t wait to eat. “I haven’t eaten today so I’m excited. It’s happening!”
