Notably, in the 12th over of Punjab’s innings, he bowled the fastest delivery of the season, hitting an impressive 155.8 kmph, a moment that quickly went viral on social media platforms.

“First of all, I don’t want to put any extra pressure on him, he’s only 21. But he’s got great pace and a great action. I’m very impressed with him, and really excited to see how he progresses. Excited. Next few months,” Lee, a JioCinema IPL expert, said during a roundtable on Tuesday.
Before Lucknow Super Giants’ game against Royal, Lee said, “Mayank Yadav is the talk of the town. He has crossed the 155 mark, and hopefully, he can bowl even faster tonight. Let’s see how he backs up. So I’m looking forward,” Lee said ahead of Lucknow Super Giants’ game against Royal. Challengers Bangalore at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium.

Mayank’s lightning-quick deliveries, clocking in at 150 kmph consistently, stunned spectators and cricket enthusiasts during Lucknow Super Giants’ impressive 21-run win over Punjab Kings last Saturday.
His sheer pace proved to be a formidable challenge for batsmen like Jonny Bairstow, Prabhasimran Singh and Jitesh Sharma, ultimately contributing to the downfall of the Punjab Kings. Mayank’s exceptional performance earned him the Player of the Match award.
Switching gears on the subject of Virat KohliBrett Lee emphasized the importance of having key players like the Indian batting maestro in the upcoming T20 World Cup.
Lee stressed that the presence of such experienced and influential figures is crucial to the success of their respective teams in the tournament to be held across the United States and the West Indies in June.
“I would love to see big players play in the T20 World Cup. I would love to see players like Virat Kohli play in the World Cup.”
While Mayank has caught her attention with his pace and action, Lee feels Jasprit Bumrah He is the best fast bowler in the world but added that he has not been used effectively enough.
“The bowler who impressed me the most (this IPL) from a fast bowling point of view, I’m still impressed with Jasprit Bumrah. I don’t think he’s been used properly. He wasn’t at his best though. The other evening (Rajasthan Royals on Monday opposite).
Lee said, “It was difficult for him to control the swing because he hasn’t bowled with a brand new ball in the last two matches. I always want to see Bumrah use a brand new ball.”
Lee also expressed his approval of the two-bouncer rule implemented in the IPL, noting that it has played a significant role in restoring the balance between bat and ball in a format that heavily favors batsmen.
“The two-bouncer rule is good. There are a lot of things that go against the bowlers. The two-bouncer rule allows the fast bowlers to plan to get the batter out. Now they have the option to bowl the short ball first ball. And the last ball too.
When pressed to identify his top four teams for the current IPL season, Lee put his faith in Delhi Capitals, Royal Challengers Bangalore, Chennai Super Kings and Sunrisers Hyderabad.
“I made a prediction two weeks ago early on. I see Delhi Capitals at the top this season, I have RCB, the girls have done it and it’s time for the boys to move on, then CSK and Sunrisers Hyderabad.”
Asked about the ‘Impact Player’ rule, Lee said it “adds a lot of color and value to the IPL”.
Lee said.
Speaking about Mumbai Indians’ poor start to the tournament, Lee warned against canceling them considering their desire to fight back after a slow start.
“They are the most successful team in the history of IPL. I have no worries about Mumbai Indians right now. They are showing signs of how good they are as a team. I think patience is the key.”
