kingdom of the planet of the apes Taking place in the far future, 300 years behind the timeline of 2017. war for the planet of the apes, The third film in the reboot franchise.

ET’s Ash Crossan recently sat down with Owen Teague, who has joined the franchise Empire as a new ape, and he spoke openly about how the story presented in the first three films expands upon the universe – which was led by andy serkis He plays an ape named Caesar who evolves to learn to speak.

“It’s a bigger world than the previous three films,” Teague said. “We’ve developed our own branches and the apes have a kind of diaspora… and established tribes that have different belief systems and different customs. It’s a really nice world.”

He added, “Caesar has become almost a legend of sorts.” “He has become a religious figure for some apes, and he has become a name that is being used in different ways for different purposes.”

Teague notes that some of the apes in this future timeline see Caesar as almost a “prophet”.

“He’s the original kind of teacher – he’s shaped entire belief systems from Caesar on,” he explained. “And then for other apes, he’s a means to an end. His teachings have been used to help other apes gain power, which I think, you know, is a very timely story , because we see it happening in real life all the time.”

And just as the apes learned from Caesar, Teague said he relished the chance to learn from Serkis, who has become a motion capture legend in Hollywood not only for his portrayal of Caesar, but for his performance as Gollum. lord of the ring Trilogy, King Kong in the 2005 film of the same name, Baloo in 2018 Mowgli: Legend of the Jungle And in Supreme Leader Snoke star wars Sequel Trilogy films.

While Sarkis is not visible empire of planet of the Apes, Teague said the two talked at length about “the physical element of performance capture”.

“I think the most valuable, general thing they gave me was not to put so much emphasis on that part of it,” he recalled. “When we met, it was very early in the process. And I remember she basically said, ‘You’re just acting, you know? Think of the chimpanzee as a costume that you’re wearing. Be and do everything you’re doing.” Normally this would be done for any character.

“On the one hand, it’s very different, because there’s a camera strapped to your head, but you’re just acting…Andy was really helpful in grounding me and being like, ‘This isn’t rocket science. Is,’” he added.

Teague said he went to “ape school” to learn how to play the physical aspects of his character, a gifted young chimpanzee named Noah, adding that the experience was “the best thing I ever got. It It was so much fun.” .it was very nice.”

He told ET that his character, the son of the leader of a powerful ape clan, is still trying to find his way in the world.

“Noah is under a lot of pressure to live up to his father’s expectations,” he shared. “He doesn’t really know who he is or what he’s capable of. What he does know is that he’s basically an engineer in chimpanzee form. He’s extremely curious. He’s intelligent.”

Teague recalled, “One thing I’ve always said is, in terms of character development, most of the chimpanzees are in the present tense.” “Noah is in the future tense. He’s always wondering what’s going to happen next… It’s fun to see Noah’s mind at work.”

However, according to the actor, while extremely talented, Noah is also “a bit emotionally stunted”.

“It kind of comes with the territory of being a tough dad,” he said. “But what’s interesting about Noah is that he’s sheltered within his own tribe… He doesn’t really know about the world and so he’s trying to figure everything out. And for him It’s hard to learn things that are in total conflict with each other, and work on that.”

The film also stars Freya Allen, Kevin Durand, William H. Macy, Peter Macon, Eka Darvill, Travis Jeffery, Lydia Peckham, Neil Sandilands, Ras-Samuel Welk Abzgi, Sarah Wiseman, and Dichen Lachman.
