Just a week ago word spread that King Charles had cancer.
While the world grapples with the diagnosis, the 75-year-old monarch released his first public statement regarding the disease on Saturday.
“I would like to extend my heartfelt thanks for the many messages of support and well wishes I have received over recent days,” the King said, via Buckingham Palace.
“As all those who have been affected by cancer will know, such kind thoughts are the greatest comfort and encouragement.”
At this time we do not know what type of cancer King Charles has; Nor, therefore, do we know his prognosis.
We can do Confirm, at least, that Charles received a diagnosis after a prostate exam.
The statement added, “It is equally heartening to hear that sharing my own diagnosis has helped to promote public understanding and shed light on the work of all the organizations that support cancer across the UK and the wider world. Support patients and their families.”
“My lifelong admiration for their tireless care and dedication is even greater as a result of my own personal experience.”
Amidst this health concern, Prince Harry has traveled to Great Britain to see his father.
However, from what we can gather, he did not use that time to reconcile with his brother.
On Saturday, the king signed his letter, “Charles R” – his royal cipher, meaning “rex”, the Latin word for “king”.
Meanwhile, on February 5, the royal family told us this:
“During The King’s recent hospital procedure for a benign prostate enlargement, a separate issue of concern was noted. Subsequent clinical trials have identified a form of cancer.
“Her Majesty has today begun a program of regular treatment, during which doctors have advised her to postpone public-facing duties.
“Throughout this period, Her Majesty will continue to conduct state business and official paperwork as usual.”
End this previous message:
King is grateful for the quick intervention of his medical team, which was made possible due to his recent hospital procedure. He is completely positive about his treatment and is eager to return to full public duty as soon as possible.
Her Majesty has decided to share her diagnosis to stop speculation and in the hope that it will help public understanding for all those around the world who are affected by cancer.
In related news, Kate Middleton is currently recovering from stomach surgery.
While we believe the entire concept of the Royal Family is anachronistic and a colossal waste of money and, as has basically been proven recently, these people are deeply racist and very horrible…
… We still send our best wishes to Kate and Charles.
We hope they both make a full recovery.
