We’re used to Doja’s quirky humor and constant online trolling, but last week she showed a more serious side. Red The singer addressed derogatory comments about displaying her bleached blonde locks on the cover of “Mask”, to be published on April 5.

Doja clapped back at the “consistent pattern” of insulting her natural hair with several racist stereotypes. The rapper was so “serious” that she was “struggling deeply” to record a video before asking fans to document it from her Instagram Live.

“My hair, to describe it, it’s 4C hair texture,” she began. “I’m seeing a pattern. I see a consistent pattern in my comments section of people asking whether it’s my hair, pubic hair, whether it’s carpet or whether it’s sheep’s wool. And it’s not even a question … some people are saying that, it is what it is,” she said.

“People compare my hair to sheep, pubes, carpet and all that nonsense… We have to move forward. Let’s move ahead. Let’s move forward,” he said, showing his progress.

Doja Cat is fed up with anti-Blackness, despite recently wearing a “neo-Nazi” comedian’s T-shirt. She turned off that “racial chat room” energy by turning off comments for her album cover posts.

Many critics quickly figured out that the hair haters are just the fan base they have developed and are now taking their bigoted BS out on them like they do with other black people. She seems conscious of this as she appears to resist explaining the oppressive history of mocking black hair. Publicizing that it is inappropriate or controversial will only further encourage his fellow trolls.

“I can’t tell you what to do. I’m not your fucking parents. I don’t want to say too much,” she said during her live. “Shouldn’t you guys be comparing 4C body types to like… pubic hair?” In fact?!”

The 28-year-old doesn’t seem to mind the haters either, just plain negrophobic negativity. Some people blamed this reaction on the company she kept in the past, but it goes deeper than Doja. That’s why we needed the CROWN Act!

Many of the singer’s non-Black colleagues and former lovers may think the black hair jokes are funny. However, let’s not pretend the countless memes and insults about Blue Ivy’s hair didn’t even come from black people as a child. Unfortunately, anti-Blackness is all around us, and members of any race can perpetuate it.

Even a broken clock is right twice a day and Doja didn’t lie when she said it’s time to grow up and move on. Hopefully, the non-serious celeb breaking character to check out those comments is a sign that she’s doing the same.

Many of Doja Cat’s fans took the message to heart and celebrated the beauty of her natural hair.

Let’s all applaud Doja Cat’s new growth!
