Bitch Rock and Roll Hall of Fame announces nominees – including Cher

Posted by

While promoting her first Christmas album in December, Cher made a strong statement and announced that she would no longer be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. “If they gave me a million dollars.” Why the outrage? Because it’s an insult to humanity that they weren’t invited to join decades ago, thank you very much! (My words, not Cher’s.) Well, guess who nominated Cher to join her little club? Yes, the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame announced its 2024 nominees, and they’re trying to right the wrong against Cher now, because they can’t turn back the clock:

The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame has announced 15 nominees for its Class of 2024, including “Queen of Hip-Hop Soul” Mary J. Blige, Grammy winner Mariah Carey and Cher, known as the “Goddess of Pop”.

Rock Hall contenders also include Foreigner, Dave Matthews Band, Oasis, Lenny Kravitz, Ozzy Osbourne, A Tribe Called Quest, Jane’s Addiction, Sinéad O’Connor, Sed, Kool & the Gang, Peter Frampton and Eric B. Rakin. ,

According to USA Today, this is the first time that Carey, Cher, Sade, Foreigner, Frampton, Oasis, Kravitz, Kool & the Gang and the late O’Connor are on the ballot.

But while many artists may be celebrating, the nomination isn’t exactly music to Cher’s ears.

In December, the 77-year-old pop singer criticized the Rock Hall for ignoring her for years.

“You know, if they gave me a million dollars I wouldn’t be involved. I’m not kidding you,” she admitted in an interview on “The Kelly Clarkson Show.”

“I’m never going to change my mind. They’re just you-know-what yourself.

Meanwhile, this week’s nominations mark the first time Osbourne will be considered as a solo artist; He was already inducted as the frontman of Black Sabbath in 2006.

Other nominees have previously been nominated for the Rock Hall, but have not yet been enshrined.

According to USA Today, Blige was released in 2021, A Tribe Called Quest in 2022 and 2023, Jane’s Addiction in 2017, and Eric B. Rakin was nominated in 2012.

So how does Cher play it? Does she pull a Dolly Parton and respectfully decline the nomination (though Dolly later accepted), or is she reminded of her past desires to fly kites to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame? As far as the Hall of Fame goes, they jinxed her to see how much she really meant by saying she would never change her mind. But Cher is practically a goddess, so she can make no wrong move here. She’s Cher, she makes the rules – just ask Paul Giamatti. While I personally think it would be extremely bad of them to reject the Hall of Fame outright, that doesn’t mean I would think any less of them for doing the charity a favor by accepting their offer. However, I have one request that if Cher is inducted and shown at the ceremony, I hope she gives as eloquent a comment as she gave to The Guardian about how she ended up with her current partner. Something along the lines of, “I don’t know what happened, but I’m in the hall right now.”
