“My wonderful mother passed away peacefully today at 5:28 p.m.,” Cowan said. Fox News,

“I was with her this morning and know she was waiting for me to return home safely to transition.”

Rush died after spending Easter with his daughter.

Cowan continued, “It’s fitting that she decided to go at Easter as it was one of her favorite holidays and now, of course, Easter will have deep meaning for me and my family.”

A renowned actor, Rush was at the peak of his career during the Golden Age of Hollywood and his life spanned seven decades in the spotlight.

He shared the screen with some of the biggest names in the industry, including Paul Newman, Dean Martin and Frank Sinatra.

He began his acting career on the stage of the Pasadena Playhouse. It was here that he was noticed by a talent scout, who signed him for Paramount Pictures in 1950.

The actor spent his last years of retirement surrounded by family.

On his 97th birthday in January, Cowan shared a heartfelt tribute To his mother.

He wrote, “She is golden, she is diamond, she shines like the moon and shines like the sun.”

“Age does not dim the light of her eyes, the sweetness of her heart, or the wisdom of her soul.”
